Silly Season Analysis Part 1: Tebo Sticks With Tekno

The new year has arrived, and with it the annual Silly Season is gradually coming to an end. Due to RCNews Unltd having an immaculate scorecard of accurate, unbiased and prize winning reporting, we hesitate to join in the rumor mill at the end of each season. Instead we choose to wait for the dust to settle, and then dissect and analyze the results. Who goes where, why, and what does it all mean.

But first, an important note about the News Industry today. News organizations are under immense pressure since the advent of social media, with less and less revenue from newspaper sales, as well as advertisers. With people turning to Facebook for news, the level of quality news and information is plummeting. We at RCNews Unltd feel it is vital for us to keep going, providing you with valuable insights into the RC World. However, without funding we simply cannot go on. We were about to pack up and say goodbye, when some avid readers came to us with some advice. They suggested we open a Patreon, as a means to cover our expenses. So that is what we have done. If you wish to see us continue on our mission, please consider supporting our efforts here.

First up in the Silly Season Analysis: Jared Tebo and Tekno. On the surface it may not look like there is anything to report, but you would be mistaken. Our field reporters were gathering information throughout the year, as tensions were building within the San Diego based team. Allegedly, Tebo was not entirely happy with his position within the team, the techno music in the pits that Tekno owner Daniel Lewis insists on playing, the extensive use of now legal marihuana by some team members, as well as his equipment. As you can see, the list is extensive, and required some major steps to get solved.

Tebo was not entirely happy with his position within the team, the techno music in the pits that Tekno owner Daniel Lewis insists on playing, the extensive use of now legal marihuana by some team members, as well as his equipment.

Tebo & Lewis talk at DNC. Tensions began mounting already at this early outing, where Tebo felt that the constant techno music in the pits was distracting him. He also did not appreciate the fact that he was not the center of attention.

It all came to a head at the ROAR Nationals where Lewis had enough of Tebo's negative attitude. After 60 minutes of abuse over the headset in the main something had to be done. A spokesperson for Tekno told RCNews Unltd that:

You can only be told that your life's work is a piece of shit and that it was a mistake to switch to join your team so many times, before you take it personally. In fact it only takes one time.

On a side note, we reported on Tebo's hand injury earlier in the year here. Unfortunately for Tekno things did not go according to plan, injury and all.

After the Nationals a series of events unfolded, including an email sent by Tekno to Jared, which he confirmed in his recent Facebook post where he asks for forgiveness from the universe. You can read the post in it's entirety here.

RCNews Unltd was unfortunately not able to locate a copy of said email, but we were able to catch a a conversation in the Tekno pits about the incident, where Daniel Lewis explains the chain of events.

"You know how Tebo told me at the Nats that he is irreplaceable? I emailed him last week asking if he ever heard of Ryan Lutz and told him to apologize or he might end up punching his staircase again."

"You know how he also said he did not appreciate all the weed, and that it is a sin? I just replied that we all have our vices don't we!"

As of last week, it has been confirmed that Tekno and Tebo have settled their differences, partly due to the fact that Tebo has nowhere else to go, and partly because forgiveness is the law of the land in the Tebo camp. A recent win at a Southern California club race helped solidify both parties commitment to each other. RCNews Unltd unsuccessfully reached out to Tebo's agent for comment, but will of course follow the story as it develops in 2020.

Stay tune for Part 2 - Phend to JConcepts.
