Hudy Worlds 2019 - 4wd Finals

We are extremely sorry for the long delay. Our very professional journalists had far too many sake bombs and shots with their new best friend Suzuki Kawasaki, celebrating Yusuke Sugiura's great success at the Hudy World Championships. The celebration actually lasted just over 5 days. Flights were missed, hotel room stays extended, and Trencin will never be the same again.

Better late than never, we have managed to piece together a report of the final day of this epic event.

4wd – Finals Day

The morning began with a grudge match. Original vs. Imposter, Xray vs. TLR, Coelho vs. Phend. Xray had not posted any setups online, so Kenneth Ghayman had to trust Phend's natural talent, as no one on the team actually understand set up well enough to make changes in tough race conditions. Who would snatch the TQ spot? The TQ was going to be important, as passing was difficult on this track. Whoever got it, would have an advantage, and would be in control of their own destiny in the mains.

Q5

With the top heat out first, would the track be slower? Would Sugiura-san get a good run and make the main? Of course he would! He snuck in a sneaky 4th place and made it in 10th place! AMAZING! And the fight for TQ was also epic, with the last lap deciding it, and the original Xray snatching TQ. 1st Final

The atmosphere was tense. The whole RC World knew what was on the line. Would Xray win a Championship at home, or would TLR manage to make a better Xray, and win instead? Everyone was focused on this battle. Except of course Suzuki Kawasaki, and one of our journalists. They were focused on their hero.

The tone sounds, and we are off. We mentioned that it was going to be really hard to overtake, well Dakotah had an ace up his sleeve. The quad. It looks like the American Xray 2.0 was easier to maneuver in the corner before the quad, and he could keep a tighter line. Cohelo knew he needed to defend here, and went too tight and made a mess of the quad, and his jeans. Phend managed to get by. Possibly due to the extra content in Clohemo's skin tight jeans, he puckered up and got back on Phend and now looked like he was the faster driver.

This is the point in the final when things took a turn for, dare I say adult content, no kids allowed. It seems like Cohelios Xray had developed feelings for it's American competitor, and attempted, and ended up successfully mounting the TLR in the middle of the track. This was an unexpected turn of events, and luckily for everyone the intercourse was short lived. At this point we are not sure if TLR have filed a lawsuit due to sexual harassment at the workplace.

In any case, Phend won for the imposter, and Cohhmolo was second. A great 7th place for Sugiura-san.

2nd Final

If it was tense before, now it was REALLY jittery. Would Xray not win at home? The second final started, and it looked like a repeat of the first one. Phend looked faster, and Cohlomo was just holding his line. Then about half way, disaster struck before the quad. Coleho went wide, and that was all it took, Phend dove in there like something that dives in regardless of the size of a gap. The Xray thought it was going to get mounted by the TLR, and decided to exit stage left.

So there you have it, TLR Hudy World Champio......Wait, wait. Let's just watch until the end. Because if there is one thing we all know, it is that watching Phend race is like watching a grenade with the pin pulled.

Sure enough, about ¾ of a lap later, Phend realized that he was going to win, and proceeded to defenestrate himself, on the flattest section of the track. This took a combination of extreme skill, talent and dedication to the fine art of unimaginable crashes at the worst possible time to pull of this successfully, and Phend did it. Xray back into the lead.

This time Coelmo did not crash, and held on to the win. Sugiura-san holds on for 6th place!

Final 3

The worst tension had gone, and anticipation was in the air, it was almost like the excitement of the first two finals had numbed the audience slightly. They were used to this now. Our second journalist was already out of the picture, due to celebrations having begun with the Japanese team manager. This were about to get out of hand.

The final started just like the others, Phend looking faster, looking for a way past Coelho. 2 minutes in and it happened. Finally, after all this time, after a whole week of racing with not a hint of monkey business from the Hudy crew, at their home facility, it happened. A pipe jumped out in front of Phend, and flipped him over. It was bound to happen at some point, as Xray could not exit these Worlds empty handed. The track manager's special jumping pipe trick strikes!

After this it was clear sailing for Bruno Coelha, who became a 2 time 1:10th 4wd World Champion! Let's break down the top 10.

1. Bruno Cohelo: As Xray's official golden boy, he had to deliver, right? There was never any doubt about this. He just made it exciting for everyone, but he was always going to win.

2. Dakotah Phend: Thanks to the extensive setup sheets on Xray's home page, Kenneth Ghaymans downloading skills, and Phends hand grenade style, TLR had their best World Championship result in a long time.

3. Michal Orlowski: Motivated by RCNews Unltd's analysis, stating that the Schumacher is not too good on dirt, Orlowski set out to prove us wrong, and that he did!

4. Daniel Kobbevik: Taken over the title as undisputed Norwegian wonderkid, now that Malin grew up enough to realize she actually didn't enjoy RC racing.

5. Ty Tessmann: The most quiet and disappointing 5th place in the history of RC Car Racing.

6. Marco Baruffolo: The most aggressive, and insane driver in RC proved that the Xray is a very durable car indeed.

7. David Ronnefalk: Finally realized the race had started, in the last final of the week. Some people...

9. Ryan Maifield: After speaking with Maifield's man friend and servant Jason Ruona after the event, our investigative reporters uncovered the reason for Maifield's slight lack of pace. Even though he got angry at times, he did not maintain his anger well enough. We all know Maifield wins when he gets mad. The problem was he would facetime home, and speak with his wife and baby, and this unfortunately caused his much needed anger to fade.

10. Spencer Rivkin: If only the zero was silent, like the "n" in Damn it!

Most people don't know, but Jared Tebo is a bit of a ladies man. Here he is sneakily rubbing elbows with Melania Hudy next to 10th place.

2wd podium, go Japan!

4wd finalists for 2019. See you in 2 years!
