After attempting to regain the Top25RC world #1 ranking for a year now, Ty Tessmann has announced his plans to retire from active competition.
This comes after the successful retirements of both Cody King and Martin Wollanka. King retired, and 6 months later made it onto the list, having been off it for a significant amount of time. More recently, Wollanka bumped up two spots, making the top 15, after retiring 6 months ago. Now Ty hopes to bump up to first, from his current 3rd position within a few months.
Ty's spokesperson, Gord Tessmann told RCNews UnLtd that after Ty failed to achieve the top spot by racing, they will trust the formula and retire. Some key industry figures have voiced their concern over the growing amount of drivers that care deeply about the ranking.
"It is concerning that the driver's egos are so fragile that a list of points from random races affect their life decisions. We hope Ty acts as a warning example to others, and we don't see any more of this nonsense."
